Social media offered up some hilarious takes on a starter pack for whatever stereotype, trend, or subculture someone might identify with. Like the “hip youth pastor” or “trendy non-denominational church.” However, we don’t need to look or act a certain way to be a Christian, so trying to fit in—whether it’s fitting into your church culture or your school culture or your job culture or your friend culture—is futile. It’s nice to have commonalities and shared interests with your community. Feel free to change up your wardrobe, music styles, and hobbies, but remain firmly rooted in God’s truth to guide your values and beliefs.
