In summer 2016, a movie called Last Days in the Desert was released. The film explores Jesus’ 40 days in the desert and how he is tempted by Satan. One clip shows Jesus speaking with the devil (who takes on Jesus’ appearance) about how the devil sees the world around him.
While the film takes some artistic license, the clip reveals that Satan is not omnipresent and cannot comprehend God’s plan of salvation or his desire to save humanity through Jesus. So while Satan can tempt us, he does not ultimately understand how God is working to make all things new through Christ. We can cling to God’s promises and remember that we have a savior who was also tempted but triumphed.
