In the board game Ticket to Ride, each player selects a path from one city to another and works to build the railroad connecting the two. The path is on a little card and serves as a constant reminder of the goal for the player. Sometimes the paths get confusing with all the other players building their own railroad lines, so that little card is a helpful reminder of the goal. We can practice using that same mindset—having a constant reminder of our goals set before us—in our daily life. Similarly, Phase 10 is a card game in which the players must collect certain cards in each round. Once the right cards are collected, the player can play their cards and end the round for everyone. If players aren’t focused on the goal of the phase, they will quickly accumulate a handful of cards that only serve to distract them.
