Working as a waitress in Pennsylvania, a nursing student named Melissa received a tip that would change her life. While talking to a stranger about her financial troubles, Melissa was stunned when he offered to help her with school bills. In the end, the man, a local philanthropist named Benjamin Olewine III, gave her about $30,000 to pursue her education. Now a nurse, Melissa (in a twist of fate) works in a hospital wing named after Olewine—a title given because of his generous support of the hospital.
“I think that’s the most important part of the story, is that he helped me, so I just want to help everyone else,” she [Melissa] said.
Jesus paid the price that we couldn’t (the debt of our sin), and, thus, we can walk in His freedom. That freedom also compels us to show grace and forgiveness to others.
