Hope of Afterlife

Several recent television shows have tackled the question of eternal life with
(very) limited success. The title of Ricky Gervais’s Netflix series After Life is
some indication that the show gives no credence to the possibility of anything
after this life, though it does treat the grieving of survivors tenderly. Likewise,
Amazon Prime’s Upload all but mocks a character’s belief in heaven. Yet the
majority of Americans still believe in heaven and hell (“Views on the Afterlife,”

hope of eternal life and the meaning it brings our lives now are still very real.
