When we were younger, our parents would leave us at home while they went to work or the grocery store. Before leaving, they said to us, “Here is a list of things I need done before I get back.” No matter the list, we all complained at one time or another. Sometimes we fooled ourselves into believing that we had plenty of time to get the tasks done. Others of us didn’t treat the list as important and just casually forgot about it. At some point, we heard the car door and realized we were in trouble. Too often we treat Jesus’s command to be ready the same way.
